 "Good for running" 2010-01-01
By Tristan Stewart (Ohio)
I have had this now for two years... so my review includes quite a lot of usage, but also realize when I purchased it there were only 1 or 2 other units like it that were even available at the time.

I was looking for something I could use while jogging, wanted something wireless and compatible with my Bluetooth phone. I never jumped on the bandwagon of all the trendy gadgets starting with the little 'i'. I have a T-Mobile Wing I got for a great price when it was new, sporting Windows Mobile 6, Windows media player, Bluetooth etc. I don't mind that its a bit large and not as trendy looking as many others, it works great(just has a slow processor - but when over-clocked makes up for some of that). Anyhow, this unit seemed to fit the bill. Compatible with my pocket pc phone, had the buttons for windows media player, fairly small and light, in the ear design for running, etc.

Fit: Overall it fits ok, not perfect, but all right. Stays put most of the time. Sometimes when I get a bit sweaty it tends to pop out of one ear a couple times, I just push it back in. Did take some getting used to, the first few times out each season the ears were a bit sore but seems to be fine after that. I also wear glasses, usually Okley's when I jog, and they touch but don't seem to get in the way or put too much pressure on the unit and resultantly on your ear (ok, a little, but no big deal).

Function: I love having the buttons to control Windows media player, and to be able to switch from music to phone calls easily. Volume is great. Sound quality isn't as good as high-end headphones but not bad at all; I don't think I could notice the difference between these and the best headphones on earth while I'm running. Range is pretty good, I'd guess a good 30 feet if outside at least, inside it will at least go through one wall into adjacent rooms. I forget exactly how long the batteries last but I usually jog a few days (3-5 miles at a time) before I plug it in.

Overall I'm fairly happy with it and feel its worth 4 stars. Maybe 3.5 stars if I was being overly critical, but some of my complaints I already knew before I bought it so I don't hold that against the unit; for example the charger is not the universal USB style but more of a proprietary have-to-remember-to-bring-it-with-you style and your-SOL-if-you-lose-or-break-it style. Another minor gripe is with the size of the thing you'd think they could put a micro-sd slot on it or internal memory and internal mp3 player so if I wanted to leave my big pocket pc then I could still use this stand-alone for music. The biggest gripe would be the comfort and fit only being so-so. I easily got used to it though so I only docked it 1 star. But I could see how for different people it might fit even worse since its 'one size fits few'.

Basic theme of this review, don't buy it.

I'm currently on my second headset and looks I'll be sending that one back after one day of use. Both times when it failed, the music started breaking up while at the gym. I thought it was interference of some kind but it wasn't. With the first headset (had for 5 months of heavy use), once it failed I couldn't charge it, no light when the charger was connected. On the second headset, it wouldn't turn off so I had to let the battery drain. After I charged it, it doesn't turn on.

Customer support is sketchy. You only communicate through their website, no humans.

But if you still want this headset, I agree with most of the posts, it doesn't sit well on the back on the neck. Once you start sweating, the headset doesn't move well. So if you turn your head, the ear bud pops out. Very annoying.

Only set back is that it's a little uncomfortable on the ears, and they tend to come off easily when moving around.

 "Not very good" 2009-06-19

I got these because they were free, but they weren't worth it. Sitting absolutely still with the transmitter within 2 feet, I get dropped audio. The sound quality is horrid. I don't think it is capable of producing frequencies under 1 khz. Also, they aren't very loud. The fit is uncomfortable and it is hard to get them to fit into your ears.

On the other hand, they are red and look sporty. They also worked after I repeatedly threw them against the wall for sucking so bad. The best thing about these is they hold a charge for a really long time.

Samsungs one size fits all strikes again, these do not fit on me and the ear buds are way to big for my ear canal anyway. the bluetooth device pulls the headset wires downward causing tension on the ear buds constantly trying to force them OUT of your ear. the design of the ear wrap around is poor, look at the picture it is square, if you have a square ear you might be ok.

when i pushed the ear plugs into my ear and held it there by hand the sound was good, but let them loose and they pop out.

i tried to make them work; sometimes you have to get used to a product so with these i took them to the gym i wore them in my tractor plowing snow and they kept popping off my ears as i moved around this became VERY annoying. strictly backup only for me. i suggest you look at the Samsung SBH500 BT Stereo Headphones these work for me but beware they are also one size fits all. read the reviews before a final decision, but the sound on the 500's is really good.
